Why Miami
Crandon Golf, Key BiscayneMost Miami golf trips are a Doral shuttle and a steakhouse. This one runs the whole spine of South Florida: a muni in the middle of the city, a Tour venue on an island, then the Overseas Highway to Key West and a seaplane to a fort in the middle of the Gulf.
You are on the course for six hours a day. We built the other eighteen: the room, the driver, the boat, the reservations you cannot get, and the doors that stay shut for everyone else.

Miami Beach Golf Club, the only course inside the city limits. Afternoon tee time so a morning flight still works. Clubs are already on the cart when you arrive.
Check in at The Miami Beach EDITION. Rooms held as a block on the same floor. Bags go up while you are still at the first tee.
Collected at MIA. Defender 110 and a driver who stays with the group for the whole trip.
Dinner at Casadonna on the water, then a table held at ZZ's Club. You are on the list before you land.
Check-in, The Miami Beach EDITIONCrandon Golf on Key Biscayne. A former PGA Tour venue laid through mangroves with saltwater lakes and holes that run to the bay. Early tee sheet, out by one.
Afternoon on the water: kayaks through Bill Baggs, or the boat if the group would rather be sitting down. Sunset drinks at The Cleat, No Name Harbour, arriving by tender.
Back over the causeway for dinner in Wynwood, then a member room for the last drink. Nobody queues.
Swap the kayaks for a half day on a centre console with a captain, cooler stocked, sandbar included.
Out early on Key BiscayneThree and a half hours down the Overseas Highway, forty two bridges, the Seven Mile in the middle. Upgrade the group to a 911 Cabriolet for this leg and let the driver follow with the bags.
Key West Golf Club, the only course in the Keys. Mangrove holes, iguanas in the bunkers, an ocean breeze that changes every club.
Two nights in Old Town, walking distance from Duval and far enough from it.
Live music, a late dinner booked, and a schooner sunset sail if the group still has legs.
Leaving the city behindChoose your morning. A sportfish charter booked through Boatsetter with a captain and mate, running the reef edge for mahi and sailfish. Or the flats skiff, poling for bonefish and permit.
Or take the seaplane to Fort Jefferson. Seventy miles west of Key West, a nineteenth century fortress sitting alone in the Gulf, with snorkeling on the moat wall and forty minutes of the most absurd water in the country on the way out.
Fly home from Key West, or run the highway back to MIA. Either way somebody else drives.

01 / The stay
Ocean front, a bowling alley and a skating rink in the basement, and a lobby that is a reason to come down early. Rooms blocked together, late checkout arranged, clubs stored and cleaned overnight. W South Beach is the alternate when dates are tight, and the Faena suite upgrade is there if the trip has something to celebrate.
02 / The ride
Yours for the weekend, not a car service you keep re-booking. Clubs in the back, cooler in the boot, nobody nominated as the sober one. Upgrade the Overseas Highway leg to a 911 Cabriolet, or run the whole trip in one if you would rather arrive that way.
03 / The table
A table held at ZZ's Club, the members-only room above Major Food Group's Miami block. Plus Casadonna, Mandolin, Joe's Stone Crab in season, and the Wynwood back rooms that do not take walk-ins. Booked in your name, timed around the tee sheet, moved by text if the round runs long.
04 / The door
Member rooms in South Beach and Brickell, a beach club day bed on the Saturday, the Biltmore in Coral Gables if the group wants one old-world round. This is the layer you cannot buy on an aggregator, and the reason the trip is worth what it costs.
Beyond the golf
On arrival
Polo, luggage tag with your Noob number, a sleeve of balls and tees, waiting on the bed at check-in. Small thing. Sets the tone for the whole four days.
